Gent'n. It is Some Time Since you were Pleased to Give me an Invitation to Settle with you in the Gospel Ministry. I have Taken the matter into Mature & Deliberate Consideration, and because I Esteemed it a matter of the utmost Importance, I have bin Asking that wisdom from Above which is Profitable to Direct; and because in the multitude of Counsel there is Safty, I have bin Asking Advice of my Rev'd Fathers in the Ministry, as well as Other Friends, and am now Ready to inform you, that I have kept you the Longer in Suspense, because there was a want of Unanimity Amongst you, and that has bin a Great Discoragement to me; but Since many have informed me, that it was not out of any Dislike to me but for Other Reasons, that they were not Active in the matter.

And Now Gent'n, Sensible of my Insufficiancy for Such an Important work, I Desire to Depend Intirely upon him whose wisdom and Strength are Sufficiant for me, and Confident of your Good will Towards me I intreat that you would Strive together with me in your Prayers to God for me, that I may have that wisdom and Strength Imparted to me from Time to Time that may be Necessary properly to Conduct in the Important work of the Ministry — and though I have Great Reason to fear my Deficiency yet I ask your Prayers, that I may in some Measure be Quallified with those Virtues and Graces that were so Ornamental and Agreeable in the Life of my worthy Predecessor your Late Rev'd Pastor; and by Equal fidelity in my Labours may be Instrumental of Converting many Souls to God and that I might at Last Receive the Reward of a Faithful Labourer
I Conclude wishing that you may have the Divine Presence and Direction in all your Proceadings Assuring you that How Ever I may be wanting in Other Respects yet you Shall not have Just Reason to think but that your best Intrist and welfare are near my heart
